Take a hike to the mountains as the vicinity offers plenty of mountains to choose from.
A number of hiking paths lead by Apartments Fine Stay Gorenjska through the Zavrsnica valley in the direction of the Smokuska Highland (Smokuska planina), Tincek’s Hut (Tinckova koca), the Zelenica ski area, the peak of Vrtaca or towards the Valvasor Mountain Hut (Valvasorjev dom).
The Valvasor Hut is a favourite destination among local hikers and is also the most popular start point for the hike to Stol, the highest peak of the Karavanke range, 2263m. From the top of Stol, one can feel that the Julian Alps and Triglav are almost within touching distance. On clear days the views extend all the way to Sneznik to the east and Veliki Klek to the west. A 45 minute hike from the Valvasor Hut leads to Ajdna whilst just 15 minutes, in the opposite direction, leads to the Zirovnica Highland (Zirovniska planina). Here you can set out along the sunny highlands beneath Stol which offer magnificent views; from the Zirovnica Highland to the Zabreska Highland and onwards towards the Doslovce and Smokuska Highlands. From the latter you can descend to the valley or continue the path to Zelenica, which during the summer time is richly covered with mountain flowers. Reward yourself with refreshments in the renovated stopping point for local hikers, the Zavrsnica Mountain Hut at the source of the Zavrsnica (Dom pri izviru Zavrsnice).
As a destination for a short trip, we suggest the Turkish Cave (Turska jama), which is located beside the road towards Valvasor, a 30 minute walk from Zavrsnica. In the time of the Turkish invasion, the rock cavern was a refuge for residents from the area.
