Lake Faak (German: Faaker See, Slovene: Basko Jezero) is a beautiful alpine lake in the Austrian state of Carinthia. It’s Austria’s southernmost bathing lake, just across the border with Slovenia (about half an hour drive from our place). It’s a popular bathing destination, known for its clear turquoise water. The beautiful shores of the Faaker See lake are not only perfect for sunbathing and bathing, but also surfing, yachting and pedal boat riding can be pursued. The crystal-clear lake reaches temperatures of up to 27 °C in the summer. Volleyball courts near the shore induce a classic summer feeling. Fishing, especially for whitefish (Reinanke) is also quite popular.
Lake Faaker See is located just across the Austrian border, only 35 minutes drive from the Bled area(if you go through the Karawanken Tunnel). Those who like a more winding road with nice views and want to avoid the Karawanken Tunnel toll (€7) can use the Wurzen Pass instead (58 km, 1 hour 5 minutes).
