Lake Bohinj is one of the most popular destinations for our guests to visit. It’s only a quick 30 minute drive from Bled. It is considered as one of the most beautiful places in Slovenia and beyond.

Church of St John the Baptist sits at the head of Lake Bohinj beside the stone bridge. Experts say the church was built in the late 10th or early 11th century.

Just over 27 kilometres south-west of Lake Bled is the equally lovely but not so well-known Lake Bohinj. It is the largest lake in Slovenia, covering 318 hectares in the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps in the Triglav National Park.

Bohinj is one of the most beautiful destinations in Slovenia. The lake and its surroundings are such a treasure that everyone who comes to Slovenia should see them.

Nestled at the foot of the Julian Alps, you can only get to Lake Bohinj from the east.

Lake Bohinj is an easy day trip from Bled. Due to its out-of-the-way location, Lake Bohinj is quieter and gets less visitors than Lake Bled.

The walk around lake Bohinj is some 12 kilometres. People generally start in Ribcev Laz by the stone bridge and walk along the northern shore until reaching the far end at Ukanc. Here you can cross the Savica stream.

The jade-green Savica stream near the village of Ukanc is a must see when in Bohinj.

Savica Stream is the largest of the streams that flow into Lake Bohinj, it is fed from the Black Lake, the lowest-lying lake in the Triglav Lakes Valley.

The water is crystal clear, cold and it’s really the color you see on the images of this lovely stream.
