Fine Stay Slovenia – multi-award-winning accommodations in the Lake Bled area in Slovenia

Vintgar Gorge, also known as Bled Gorge, is one the most beautiful places in Slovenia. Just outside the northern side of Bled this gorge has been made into a great attraction by the addition of walkways alongside and across the river. It’s really a stunning gorge with turquoise water, white rapids, lots of fish clearly visible, and a waterfall to top it off. Prepare to have your camera in hand for most of the time! A boardwalk takes you along the sides of the gorge, crossing the water a number of times. A waterfall at one end of the boardwalk provides a nice backdrop for photos and is accessible by a separate track. The walk is around one and a half hour long but isn’t difficult by any standards. There are plenty of families there with small children who seem to manage the walk fine. And if you go a bit further down the path than most and wind your way through the woods (after the cafe at the end of the boardwalk), you can get down to the water and swim in the plunge pool beneath the waterfall. There is a cafe in the end of the trail and a good restaurant with fresh trouts next to the parking.

The entrance fee is €10 for adults and €6 for students (and less for children). The gorge is open every day from April to November (April, May 8.00 – 18.00; June 7.00 – 19.00; July, August 7.00 – 20.00; September 8.00 – 18.00; October, November 9.00 – 16.00). There is a free parking area available in front of the entrance to the gorge. Would recommend getting there early in the day due to its popularity. And prepare to have your camera in hand for most of the time!
