Bled offers simply dozens of festive events throughout December and mid January – providing fun for the whole family. Since 2015, Bled has set up a market near the shore of the lake with entertainment and festive activities available every evening, including the wheel of love, the life-sized nativity set, the supersized Christmas chair under the gigantic Christmas tree, and the traditional Sinking of the Bell. The town is also ideally located for those wishing to participate in winter sports. Bled has three ski resorts within a 45-minute drive, where visitors can enjoy downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more.

Lake Bohinj is one of the most popular destinations for our guests to visit. It’s only a quick 30 minute drive from Bled. It is considered as one of the most beautiful places in Slovenia and beyond.

Our guest, Evgenii Danilov, who is currently staying with us in our accommodation Apartments Fine Stay, has sent us these beautiful photos of Lake Bohinj and the Savica stream, which flows into it near the village of Ukanc. Thank you so much Evgenii!

Just over 27 kilometres south-west of Lake Bled is the equally lovely but not so well-known Lake Bohinj. It is the largest lake in Slovenia, covering 318 hectares in the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps in the Triglav National Park.

Lake Bohinj is an easy day trip from Bled. Due to its out-of-the-way location, Lake Bohinj is quieter and gets less visitors than Lake Bled.

The walk around lake Bohinj is some 12 kilometres. People generally start in Ribcev Laz by the stone bridge and walk along the northern shore until reaching the far end at Ukanc. Here you can cross the Savica stream.
